The expensive seats had a view

I finally made my way through the thousands of people and arrived at Place de la République where the statue of La République stands.

Look closely and you'll see people with a view, in the expensive seats, just under the statue. I swear the fellow in the middle is standing there holding a beer. It wasn't hard to get the feeling that a strike in France was a little different than in the US.
You had a large section of the city completly shutdown with the largest amount of people assembled in one place outside of a stadium concert and they were having the time of their life.

I was standing on the sidewalk when I saw an old man in his 70's or 80's leaning on his cane, wearing a long, tan overcoat. He was just standing there by himself, taking it all in.
