| Day 31 | ||
Paul is 87 and Elise is 86 and they get around just fine. He still drives, (in fact he was waiting to take delivery of a new car) they don't use a cane and they stopped snow skiing just 6 years ago. When we first stepped out of the door of the TGV the heat hit us, once we were driving along with a good breeze then things were just fine. |

But somehow, drinking champagne and eating a tart just covered with sugar at 3:00 in the afternoon on a hot day was a little bit of a surprise for me. That's the thing about the French, if they take a liking to you then you'll be introduced to things you've never had before and the hospitality is unmatched. |
We showed some photos from Seattle & San Francisco to Paul and Elise & we gave them one of my photographs of the tulip fields in the Pacific NorthWest as a gift. >> |

When we all had eaten 2 pieces of the cake Nelly and I went outside for a little walk because combining the heat, the champagne and the sugar made us a little loopy. Just outside the house we saw a 4 inch salamander speeding along a concrete wall in the heat. |
