| Day 31 | ||
The spiral staircase is much wider than Amtrak and the radius isn't as sharp, so it's easy to go up and down, not to mention that it's a darn smooth ride. There's nicely designed bathrooms on both levels and we had the Bar Car right behind us. When I was done taking pictures, having a coffee and looking all over the place like a little kid I pulled out the laptop but we were arriving in only 15 minutes so I had time to boot up and then shut the puppy down. |
Paul, Nellys Grandfather, was outside to greet us and opened the garage door for me to pull the car in from the heat at 3:00 in the afternoon. Elise, his wife was inside and before we took one thing out of the car they invited us to sit down. |

Then we located Avis car rental to pick up a dark blue, metal flake, Renault Twingo. With the car packed we drove about an hour before reaching Saint Rambert en Bugey near the French Alps, about 80 km away from Geneva. |
Paul disappeared behind a door and came right back with a bottle of Maison Noire champagne and in the middle of the table, under some bakery paper was a large, tart au sucre. >> |
