Day 29: 80F/27C predicted

In Chatou, Thierry, the owner of the apartment we're staying stopped by for a late breakfast or brunch. Afterward Nelly whipped together a couple of sandwiches because today we're going into town, then down South and we'll ride the RER for about an hour to Versailles.

Around 1996 I found a weekly from Paris, Paris Metropole and I'd been trading mail with the editor, Ric for some years now. After all that time, today was the day we had a chance to get together in RL on the Champs Elysees.

You see the city had a competition for 1000 spots, to paint, sketch or draw your impression of the Champs in an afternoon and Ric scored a spot in the professional category.

He's one interesting guy. Hailing from Canada he's lived in Paris for 20 years, holds both Canadian and Irish passports, has a very enjoyable writing style and has been doing a Paris Metropole since 1995.

It was quite hot and we sat in the shade near the Arc de Triomphe, talking, getting acquainted without monitors.
